RSE Overview Summer Term

Relationships and Identity
- Recognising how people value different things and have different families, friends and communities.
- Experiencing inclusive behaviours, language and role modelling that show respect for others, whatever their gender.
Empowerment, Safety and Respect
- Recognising harmful behaviour including behaviours which are discriminatory and the right to be free from discrimination.
- Awareness of how to keep safe when using digital media, including sharing with a trusted adult when they feel uncomfortable or scared.
- Ability to speak up for each other.
Year 3/4
Relationships and Identity
- Valuing and recognising the contributions of everyone; and the importance of equality.
- Recognising the value of non-discriminatory behaviours and when and how to take safe action to respond to and challenge discriminatory behaviours.
Empowerment, Safety and Respect
- Know how and when digital media can be shared safely, with permission and when it can be a source of harm.
- Awareness of the benefits and dangers of the internet and social media in forming friendships online.
- An understanding of the need to keep safe online, an ability to take steps to protect themselves and an ability to share with trusted adults where something is seen that shouldn’t have been, or is upsetting or uncomfortable.
Year 5/6

Concepts -Create, Imagine, Respond
We will teach concepts through a Traditional story theme including -
Emperor's New Clothes, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Little Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, Chicken Licken
Year 2/3/4
For Health & Wellbeing / Science we will be doing a mini project on Oral Health (as part of the Cluster Progression Project on Health Promoting Behaviours).
We are going to look at
- people who have influenced & changed the way we communicate.
- the different ways people communicate - art, photographs, drama & music. We are going to look at how we can communicate with others all over the world.
- jobs in communication & the media with local examples.
- positive / negative effect communication / media can have on mental health.
- how people communicate their beliefs.
- Class novels for this term The Boy Who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd/ The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo.
Year 5/6
STEM Cluster project – designing, creating and testing soap box cars (Y6)
STEM – Bridge Design (Y5)
Showtime (leavers concert performance).
We will look at
- script writing, song writing, poetry through rap.
- oracy around performance
- expression though character and costume design
- animation and story boarding
- direct and indirect speech
